Hi László, How did you get good at what you do?

I started messing around with computers at a very young age – mostly playing games, of course. As time went on, I set up my first-ever game server for an after-school hangout with my friends. I quickly realised that this was something I enjoyed and decided to focus on tech-related stuff for years to come, either via small projects, competitions, or hackathons.

I finished my Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and am currently studying for a Master’s as well. I also started working during my BSc, and gathering “real” work experience definitely helped me get a better understanding of what is important and needed in real-world scenarios.

Why Columbia Road?

I first got introduced to Columbia Road during a student job fair event, so it is safe to say I had plenty of comparison points. After a quick talk I got a glimpse into the work culture and the general environment, which was a totally unique approach to me. There was no doubt in my mind that this would be a suitable place for me to grow, so a few days later, I sent my application.

Throughout the recruitment process, I met quite a few people, and all the encounters only ensured that I made the correct decision. I have all the opportunities to learn and develop while also creating value – what’s more to ask for?

What makes your heart beat a little faster?

Finding hidden gems. I dig through a lot of music daily, and when I find a great song that is completely unknown to all my friends, sharing it is a moment to cherish. However, this also applies to me while travelling: I rarely follow tourist attraction paths and prefer to either discover by myself or have a local show me some points of interest - it never fails!

Other than that, I greatly enjoy socialising via games of any type, especially cosy board game nights. For the sports side, squash and basketball are my two preferred options.
