Hi Ninh, How did you get good at what you do?

My relationship with computers began in secondary school – I started playing games in languages that I did not understand, while also helping friends to troubleshoot when they were experiencing issues on their computers.

I wrote my first lines of code during my bachelor’s degree studies. Since then, I have experienced working for various types of companies – from strict Asian corporations to go-manage-yourself in startups (including one of my own). I found that the best way to further improve my skills is by watching and learning directly from those close to me.

Most recently, the master’s degree programme in Human Computer Interaction & Design at KTH & Aalto University taught me the good habit of putting a special focus on usability when building digital products.

Why Columbia Road?

For several years now, I have been following Columbia Road, and I see the company as a community of talented people helping each other grow. Joining Columbia Road is an opportunity for me to broaden my knowledge as a professional and, in general, as a person. At the time of writing this, it marks my first week here, and the warm welcome at Columbia Road is well beyond my expectations.

What makes your heart beat a little faster?

Besides writing a useful piece of code, my heart beats (more than) a little faster when I’m able to cook a good dish or take a good photo.

I love ‘aha-I-did-it’ moments, especially for things I could not do before. Recently, I managed to solve the Rubik’s cube after giving it up a long time ago. I also just started swimming again after a 2-year break, and I really enjoy taking a dip in an outdoor pool while the air is only 4^oC. I hope my list will continue. Next, it will be talking with colleagues in Finnish! 😁
