Franck_SmulterHi Franck, How did you get good at what you do?

I studied International Marketing in France where I grew up. During that time I fell in love with the Nordic countries. I started studying in Denmark and later on went on to work there for several years. First for an internet startup and later on an advertising agency. I then moved to Sweden where I worked for Renault for almost 13 years.

Where have you earned your spurs?

During my career, I have worked with most aspects of marketing and communication ranging from agency to client settings, from branding to lead management roles, with project management to hands-on work. In recent years, I have come to focus more and more on the digital and data side of things and I enjoy it a lot!

Why Columbia Road?

Just like Eric Hoffer said, “In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.” I wanted to continue learning and Columbia Road appeared to me (and actually is) a company full of really talented people, a place where I can explore new horizons with my amazing colleagues.

Lauri, what will make our clients love Franck?

"Franck, although he possesses great expertise in marketing technology, really is an all-rounder who loves to dig deeper into all kinds of problems whether they are technical, UX related, or marketing and business-related. He truly strives for an approach to find out what is the action which will have the greatest impact for our clients.

On top of that, Franck’s long background from the client side in big corporations has equipped him with a great understanding of how they work and the challenges and complexity that come with their size. This gives him a great understanding of many of our client’s needs first hand," says Lauri Eurén, General Manager at Columbia Road.

What makes your heart beat a little faster?

Technology fascinates me. Especially since I witnessed the first steps of the internet back at the time when the Minitel was still a thing in France.

In general, I am quite minimalistic in my approach to life so I enjoy simple things like playing with my kids or just being out in nature, often in motion, like running or biking.
