Futurice's subsidiary for digital growth and ecommerce consulting Columbia Road has joined forces with Devlog Oy, a company specialising in the strategic development and management of logistics in Northern Europe. Together the two companies will bring Finnish retail know-how into the new age.
The cooperation between the two companies creates a unique and international digital and physical retail as well as logistics cluster. The leadership of the Logistics Development Forum overseen by Devlog includes international logistics, industrial and retail companies that have helped bring over 20 young international talents into the field. Companies like Containerships, Finnair, Helsinki Harbour and SRV that take part in the forum are interested in developing new business and services.
With its parent company, Columbia Road is already active in London, Berlin, Munich and Stockholm, in addition to Finland. The companies offer strategic consulting that combines preparedness for future trends with rapid experimentation in digital channels and physical distribution networks.
“In addition to digitalisation, there are a number of megatrends related to logistics at play behind the rapid transformation of ecommerce, including urbanization, the circular economy and the further globalisation of trade. Cooperation with Devlog allows us to offer our customers around Europe the tools to meet this transforamtion head-on," says Sampo Hämäläinen, one of the founding partners of Columbia Road.
“Even though the world is still very physical as far as services and movement go, the role digital channels and platforms play in interaction, value and trade is growing. Players in the field of retail and logistics must be a part of this transformation. For this reason we are very excited to have the know-how Columbia Road offers as a part of our network," Aleksi Kukkarinen, CEO of Devlog, states.
Together the two companies are aiming to create world-class ecommerce companies in Finland. The country represents some unique international opportunites in the middle- to long-term, thanks to its location between Europe and Asia .
